Recent News: Transfusion Management Services Completes BBK Validation for Methodist Hospital System

TUCSON, AZ, July 28, 2009 -- Transfusion Management Services (TxMS) provided independent validation services to Methodist Hospital System (North & South facilities - Merrillville & Gary, IN) for their blood bank system conversion to MEDITECH. TxMS staff created and executed a detailed validation plan with test protocols customized to Methodist’s workflow and requirements. TxMS tested and successfully documented all critical blood bank system functions, including:

• Patient registration and order entry
• Blood product entry, testing, issue and update
• Making, aliquoting and pooling blood components
• Patient ABO/Rh testing
• Patient antibody screening
• Patient crossmatch procedures

Blood bank system validation is a requirement of the FDA and other national and state regulatory agencies, prior to putting a new or upgraded blood bank system into active use. TxMS is an experienced provider of blood bank software validation, ISBT128 labeling implementation support and data conversion for MEDITECH and other systems such as Sunquest and Mediware.”
